Description

Updated the look of the IRS's basic infantry unit in standard battle gear fully equipped for combat. There may be variations of how a General Infantryman present himself depending on both the environment he is posted to and how long he has been fighting, with soldiers opting for short sleeve BDUs and forgoing the armored shoulder pieces and kelvar padded armguards for mobility and less weight. Woodland digital camo is also now the default camo pattern for the BDU, in keeping with the colour scheme of green for the IRS's planetside forces.

Equipment
------------------------------------

1. M8M Combat Helmet
------------------------------------

Also affectionately known as 'Mom', the M8M Helmet is the modernized version of the M8 Helmet that has been in service since the 2070s and possesses a stronger and more sturdier Bryoceramic build and a more simplified and streamlined electronics and sensor suite built into the helmet itself. Docking mounts on the sides and the front of the M8M Helmet can facilitate a range of external electronics ranging from the radio transponder and the Multi-Spectra camera (shown in picture) as well as motion sensors and laser range finders. When a Smart Visor is attached or worn with standard issue goggles, the Heads Up Display becomes functional to assist with aiming, navigation and situational awareness.

2. No.2 Standard Infantry Body Armor System (SIBAS-2)
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Consists of a Byroceramic hardplate armor piece mounted on a nano-kelvar ballistic vest as well as various Byroceramic hardplate pieces mounted on the shoulder and the knees, the SIBAS-2 or more commonly known as the No.2 remains the standard body armor for many of the IRS's infantry units with its low cost and effectiveness enabling it to be mass produced to equip some 3 trillion military personnel. The armor system is good enough to withstand bullet calibers up to 12.7mm and the Aegis Repellent layers electrolaminated on the Byroceramic armor can deflect lasers and plasma shots effectively and fully protects against shrapnel and flying debris.

3. No.3 Multi-Camo Battle Dress Uniform (BDU)
---------------------------------------------------------

Worn by virtually all military personnel, the No.3 BDU is made out of a lightweight fire and acid resistant material that is tough and hard to tear, making it a resilient uniform for long term usage. Thermal distribution fibers woven into the BDU's fabric equalizes the heat energy in the body to a temperature comfortable for the soldier allowing them to operate more effectively in hot or cold environments. Electo-sensitive chemical reactants in the No.3's fabric allow the soldier to change the colour and camouflage scheme of the BDU, giving them a great range of tactical flexibility with the ability to switch between urban, jungle, woodland, desert and other environmental camouflage patterns at the press of a button. This also eases the logistics behind the supplying of uniforms for trillions of soldiers as they do not have to change uniforms to deploy in a different environment. Additional camouflage patterns and colour schemes can be programmed into the design matrix of the BDU, ensuring the long term usefulness of the No.3 BDU in military service.

4. S35A3 'Strassbolt' Assault Rifle
-------------------------------------------------

The newest iteration of the venerable S35 'Strassbolt' rifle, the S35A3 is an all terrain assault rifle chambered to fire 5.56x45mm MER-V49 micro-explosive Armor Piercing rounds from a 40 round magazine with more than enough man stopping power to engage most types of infantry. Accurate, light and requiring only a low degree of maintenance, the S35A3 rifle presents itself as a primitive and low cost yet a very effective infantry weapon in the hands of Singaporean soldiers. The A3 model includes improvements to its internal mechanisms to improve recoil management and sealing off more vital components from environmental elements such as dirt, dust, sand and mud to further improve its already impressive all terrain capability and low maintenance needs. Rails found on the top, bottom and sides of the rifle allow soldiers to customize their weapon with a wide variety of sights and scopes and equipment such as laser pointers, taclights and underslung grenade launchers and shotguns. For melee combat, a bayonet can be mounted on the rifle barrel. The common configuration of the S35A3 is with a Holographic Sight to improve accuracy and target acquisition.

5. Portable Arm Computer
---------------------------------------------

A small lightweight arm-mounted computer used for accessing electronic systems, hacking enemy computers and as contingency measure to access the database if the M8M helmet's systems fail to do so. It has a decent battery life and can be recharged in the presence of light.

6. T56 Load Bearing Belt
----------------------------------------------

Mounts a sidearm holster and a machete sheath as a standard along with ammo pouches, a holster for a water canteen and backpouches for extra miscellaneous equipment such as extra ammunition pouches or medical kits.

7. Combat Boots
--------------------------------------------

These boots are made of extra-durable waterproof materials, keeping the soldier's feet dry and comfortable and the cleaning part made easy. The soles' design allows the soldier to traverse harsh terrain with not much difficulty and provides traction for slippery and wet environments.

8. Backpack
----------------------------------------

A simple brown or green rucksack used to store essentials such as food rations, extra water and tools such as spades as well as extra ammunition for long-term missions far from military bases where resupplying is a scarce opportunity. To cut down as much weight as possible, rucksacks are only issued in situations where there is a high chance of soldiers having to survive for extended periods of time without communications and supply drops.
