I swear in the name of Singapore
My beloved nation,
My proud people
And the sacred Identity,
That I am forever loyal to it always
I will not betray Singapore, nor abandon it
For I am devoted to its greater cause;
The eternal valor of Greater Singapore
And the well being of the Greater Common
I love my homeland as I should be
And I stand ready to uphold, defend and exemplify
National Unity
National Duty
Comradeship
And Communal Responsbility
These are my principles in my ultimate purpose
As a patriot in the service of Singapura!

I am a Singaporean soldier;
Bound to the military service in the name of my nation
It is my ultimate duty to protect Singapore and all it stands for,
It is my ultimate purpose to fight for its Greater Destiny
I stand ready to train to be a better soldier
I stand ready to take up arms against all enemies of the State
Even if it requires my life as a sacrifice, I stand ready;
For I am a warrior-guardian of Singapore and its people
I sweat in training, so others remain in comfort
I bleed in combat, so others remain in safety
And I die in battle, so others remain alive
I am a soldier,
I know what I must do in Singapore's service
For I stand ready to give all I have to my nation
To follow my orders, and fight all its wars;
I am ready to protect my home
I am ready to defend my people
I am ready to empower my nation's Constituition
And thus, I am ready to be a soldier!
Oaths play an important role in the Interstellar Republic of Singapore, being a very patriotic nation, as a way to solidify one's loyalty to a service and hold the person's words as a personal (and organizational) contract, usually to the State. There are many pledges of allegiance and oaths in the IRS and they are all required to be written as per the Standard Clause of Allegiance Act, which is a rule on how all the official oaths are to be made. There must be at least two paragraphs, with the first being the mandatory National Allegiance Oath and the second the oath of the service in question. The National Allegiance Oath serves as a basic reminder of a Singaporean's duty to the entire nation, regardless of their occupation, while the latter is more specific to the organization the person would be inducted into.

The Oath of Military Service is required to be recited when a Singaporean has first enlisted into official military service as a volunteer, or has signed on into said service after his/her National Service. It is taken in all of the IRS's military branches and it is considered as the main Oath while their Branch's own Oath of Allegiance are considered secondary. The Oath's contents basically expects the soldier to be ready to be one in the service of Singapore; protecting the nation and its people even if it means death. While not mandatory, commanders often assemble soldiers right before combat or in a solemn atmosphere (especially when in the face of defeat) to recite the Oath. This is done in the Submission position where soldiers kneel down on one knee, raise their right hand over their chest and hold their rifle in the other, face down, and this also done before the Singapore Flag, the Military Banner or both.
