(Updated) S35A2 Assault Rifle

The S35 is part of a generation of assault rifles known for its all terrain reliability, low maintenance and durability, easy handling and powerful muzzle energy. Being the standard assault rifle for Singaporean troops as long as the IRS itself, the S35 series is a recent addition to the Strassbolt lineage. The current rifle in service is the S35A2, which has improvements on its recoil dampening system and a modular design allowing for quick and easy change of its components on the fly to suit the combat situation; giving rise to its numerous configurations.

Like all its predecessors, the S35A2 is all terrain and requires little or no cleaning at all. It can be placed in mud, dirt, sand, water and even swamp and it would still fire in near perfect condition. This allows for reliable usage in adverse terrain, and the durability of the weapon also means the rifle could be used as a clubbing tool to break environmental obstacles and crush an enemy to death. The S35A2 chambers 5.56x45mm MER-V49 Micro-explosive Rounds from a standard 40-round magazine and the combination of its recoil dampeners and the micro-explosive rounds ensures accurate and lethal shots against enemy infantry. A bayonet can be attached to the weapon as well.

Configurations:

1. Base Model : The unmodified original rifle.

2. Holo Sight : A standard configuration among Singaporean soldiers. The Holo-Sight provides a holographic crosschair that improves accuracy and extends the range of the rifle beyond its iron sights.

3. Grenade Launcher : Mounted with an underslung GL-40M 40mm Grenade Launcher and a Holo-Ranger Finder to facilitate aiming and landing the grenade shots accurately. Used for assaulting concentrated enemy positions, busting them out from cover and clearing out occupied buildings. Various 40mm grenade rounds can be used; the standard HE, Incendiary, Fragmentation and others.

4. "Para" Configuration : A version of the original S35 model with a shorter barrel and a more compact telescopic stock. Used by commandos and the special forces in tight urban environments, paratroopers and police units. Comes equipped with a Holo-Sight for better accuracy and range as well as a handgrip to control automatic fire. Has less range and firepower due to its shorter barrel, but it is lighter, compact and easier to carry around.

5. DMR Configuration : A version of the original S35 model with a longer and heavier barrel. This is used by Squad Marksmen for semi-automatic long range engagements to pick off enemy troops from a distance. It has a Tactical Scope to facilitate proper aiming. Combined with the recoil dampener, the DMR is very accurate and a powerful long range weapon in the hands of trained marksmen.
